Three days, one hotel, and almost everything seen from a boat. The Mekong Delta is where Southeast Asia's largest river finally breaks apart, and the result is a landscape with no hills, no horizon and no straight lines. Roads matter less here than water does, though that is changing, and the changing is part of what you come to see.
The trip is built around two mornings. The first is the Hau River in late afternoon light, floating houses tethered to bamboo poles and drifts of purple water hyacinth. The second is Cai Rang at 5:30am, when wholesale traders are working and the tourist boats have not yet arrived. Between them come the coconut canals at Ben Tre, a hand-paddled sampan under a closed palm canopy, and the orchard islands around Vinh Long where rambutan and mangosteen grow down to the waterline.

The Mekong splits into nine mouths before it reaches the sea, and this route follows two of them. Can Tho sits on the Hau River and is the delta's largest city, about 170km and three and a half hours southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Both nights are spent there, so you unpack once. From that base the days run outward by boat: the Hau River at dusk, Cai Rang wholesale market before sunrise, the shaded coconut canals at Ben Tre, the orchard islands off Vinh Long, and finally My Tho on the Tien River, ninety minutes from Saigon and the last stop before the drive home. Almost everything here is seen from the water, which is the only honest way to see the delta.
The Mekong Delta is a world apart - a living maze of rivers, canals, and rice paddies where life has moved by boat for generations. This 3-day journey takes you deep into the delta's heartland, from the wide waters of the Hau River in Can Tho to the narrow coconut-shaded canals of Ben Tre and the riverside towns of Vinh Long and My Tho. You will drift past floating houses, watch wholesale traders haggle over mountains of tropical fruit at Cai Rang before sunrise, and paddle a wooden sampan through tunnels of bamboo where the only sounds are birdsong and the gentle dip of oars.
Unlike a day-trip snapshot, three days gives the delta time to reveal its quieter rhythms - the smoke rising from brick kilns along the riverbank, the sweet smell of coconut candy being pulled by hand in a family workshop, and the unhurried pace of small-town southern Vietnam. Your guide picks you up in Ho Chi Minh City early in the morning for the 3.5-hour drive southwest into the Mekong Delta. The landscape shifts gradually from city sprawl to endless green - paddy fields stretching flat to the horizon, punctuated by sugar palms and low wooden houses on stilts above the waterline.
After checking in at your riverside hotel in Can Tho, the afternoon belongs to the Hau River. You board a traditional wooden boat and set off along one of the delta's widest channels, where the pace of daily life plays out openly on the water.
Dinner is served at a local restaurant in Can Tho, with fresh river fish and seasonal delta vegetables setting the tone for the days ahead.

Experience with the Meetup Team was fabulous. Atmosphere was very warming and cheerful - wants you get to know that there is a whole team to guide you through the days of touring. The crowd size was small and very manageable. Staff were very helpful and solved all problems straight away - making sure you are enjoying your day ahead valued. Visited Sapa in July 2026, as it is a wedding anniversary holiday, we decided to get a travel agent to plan the whole trip for us. It was a 6D5N trip to Sapa and Hanoi. So Shirley planned the itinerary for us; 3N in Sapa and 2N in Hanoi, with visits to many attractions in Sapa based on our likes and dont..🤭. She is very accommodating to our requests and make amendments to the itinerary during our discussions and also make good recommendations: where to go in July, where to take nice pictures etc etc (and we really took many nice pictures throughout the trip). As weather in July is not ideal, there are places which she advised us against visiting so it will not be wasted trips…truthfully recommendations. Then there was Stella who briefed me through the whole itinerary before our trip so that we are well prepared and also things to look out for while in Sapa and Hanoi as we travelled without a tour guide. That was very helpful as it was our 1st time to Sapa and Hanoi. She also keep checking on us to make sure we were doing fine ourselves, we were at the right locations without any tour guides. The whole experience was seamless from the time we touched down at the airport to the bus journey to Sapa, our trips to all the recommended attractions to our way back to Hanoi and finally back home. During the whole trip it was fuss-free as everything was well arranged for us ie the drivers were on time to pick us and brought us around, the lunch arrangements and access to the attractions etc, it’s all so efficient…we really enjoyed the whole trip and was surprised that all went well with no hiccups 👍. The team did a fantastic job with all the arrangements that made it a delightful holiday for us!! Lastly, the price for the whole package is reasonable with excellent service!

Vietnam was absolutely beautiful, and the people were so warm, kind, and welcoming. 🇻🇳❤️ Booking through Meet Up Travel was also a different experience from the usual travel agency. From the very beginning, I shared my dietary requirements and made quite a number of changes to the itinerary, and they were always so accommodating and patient with all my requests. They even went through the entire itinerary carefully with us to make sure everything was well arranged and the trip would run as smoothly as possible. What I really appreciated was how they were always there whenever we had any questions or needed help. It genuinely felt like having a Vietnamese friend we could turn to throughout the trip someone who was just a message away and always ready to help. Thank you so much for organizing everything and making our trip such a smooth and enjoyable one!
